On the 12th September 2007 Simon and Somaly were engaged to be married. Here are the unofficial pictures of the event.
The whole morning's events are heavily orchestrated so as to ensure that everything is done in accordance with tradition. The start time was 8AM and some guests met at The Flamingo Hotel to have a quick breakfast before setting off. Maybe not enough time was allowed for the journey to the home of Somaly's mother as Simon received 3 phonecalls during the trip from Somaly asking where he was and how long he would be - the answer always the same 'On my way, will be there in 5 minutes, love you.' But the hired tuk-tuk finally arrived, closely followed by the 4x4 containing 'The General' but even at 8:15AM it was very hot and there was a need to find whatever shade you could, difficult for everyone but especially so for Simon in his very fancy costume that he was to start his day wearing.
